Downtown Value is a special feature of Downtown CityVille.

Every Downtown item has a Downtown Value. This value can be raised in some buildings and items by collecting from them, or sometimes by upgrading. When collecting from them there is a chance silver coins will be dropped. Those represent added Downtown Value. All the Premium Businesses have Downtown Value.

Your downtown's total value determines when you can build an expansion. This works the same way population does in the rest of the city (the "uptown", your original city). You will need Downtown Community Buildings to allow more buildings and decorations to be added. This increases the Value Allowed, much like how the population limit works.

Some items, functions and places also require a certain Downtown Value to unlock their purchase or use. You may be able to use city cash to bypass a requirement. When you see the silver coin symbol and a number, that tells you how much that item will add to your Downtown's total value. If you do not see a value, that item will not help your downtown value, but most items are still allowed there.

Hint: Once a Downtown building or item hits its maximum Downtown Value, you don't need to collect from it. (Unless there is a quest goal or drop item needed). Continue to max out the other buildings and items.
