Zoning Permits are needed to buy expansions (plot 12 x 12). They are stored in your inventory and will be consumed once you buy a new expansion plot. This item has an inventory limit of 60.

They can be obtained through:

Sending or receiving Gifts
Winning from a Mystery Gift, Holiday Mystery Gift, Special Delivery Crate, Housing Gift Box or Treasure Chest.
Placing on your wishlist and then
- Neighbors can send them from their own inventories
- Opening a Mystery Gift
- Clicking on a neighbor's train wall post
Clicking expansion in the Build Menu and posting on your wall for help
Buying them for City Cash (see also Zoning Permit Bundles)
FarmVille Balloon
Collecting from passenger planes
Collecting from Zoning Permit Center can give you up to 65 permits
Some goals gives as reward Zoning Permits

They can also drop at a random chance when collecting from City Hall 2, City Hall 3, or the Hardware Store.

In December 2011, the Zoning Permit was removed from the Free Gifts page. It was reinstated for a limited time.
